Rina Elster Pantalony
Ms. Rina Elster Pantalony is a copyright lawyer and is the Director, Copyright Advisory Services at Columbia University Libraries. She holds vast experience working with cultural heritage organizations in Canada and the United States on matters concerning the digital reproduction and distribution of collections and related materials. Ms. Pantalony founded the Open Copyright Education Advisory Network (OCEAN), an initiative dedicated to continuing copyright education for professionals working in libraries, archives and museums and chairs its Advisory Board. She also serves as technical expert on cultural heritage matters to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Prior to joining Columbia University, she was Legal Counsel to the Library and Archives of Canada, while working remotely from New York, and appointed faculty in the Moving Image Archive Preservation Program in the Department of Cinema Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. She is past chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and is published widely as an expert on intellectual property issues for libraries, archives and museums.
